This skirt from JUNYA WATANABE COMME DES GARCONS is from Junya's seminal Spring Summer 2002 collection, which incorporated thick, nylon parachute straps into a range of garments and styles, allowing dresses, jackets, and skirts to be pulled, distorted, and adjusted. On the runway many of these garments were shown in a delicate floral print poplin, but here the skirt is produced in a substantial dark navy wool. The system of straps, buckles, and D-rings run all the way across the skirt, and allow it to be twisted and manipulated into a number of shapes. The attention to detail and finishing throughout the garment is of a very high standard.
